As a driver using the E-Logs mobile app, you can log your hours to various statuses depending on your tasks for the day. From the E-Logs app, you'll select Current Status to update your Duty Status.
Primary Duty Status Types
All of the following types are available in the E-Logs mobile app and can be selected as a status by the driver. Once selected by a driver, the app will begin recording time logged under the status and will be available for viewing anywhere a log is recorded and displayed. Drivers can adjust the statuses, should they need to make revisions. Supervisors of drivers can view & manage their driver's Duty Statuses by logging into the E-Logs browser app of T3.
OFF DUTY
The Primary Duty Status, Off Duty, is when the driver is off the clock. This time is counted towards the total number of hours that the driver is required to take off or reset their cycle given their HOS rule. There is not a maximum number of hours a driver can take off.
ON DUTY
The Primary Duty Status, On Duty, is when the driver is on the clock and not driving. This time counts towards the total number of hours that the driver is allowed to work within their given HOS rule set and/or exemption.
DRIVING
The Primary Duty Status, Driving, is when the driver is on the clock and the vehicle is running. The logged time counts towards the total number of hours that the driver can be ON but also specified that they can drive within their given HOS rule set and/or exemption. There are two types of Drive time:
Automatically Tracked - This means that the drive time is automatically detected by an ELD or the vehicle's tracking device. Tracked drive events can not be altered including location, duration, and distance. However, they may be changed to Yard Move (YM) or Personal Use (PU) type events.
Manually Selected (Untracked) - This is drive time that is not detected by a tracker or a device and is selected manually by the driver. Untracked drive events can be adjusted at any time and turned into any other event. Consequently, this time may also not contain mileage information.
Note: Drive events may be split and recorded as partly Drive and partly Yard Move, or vice versa.
SLEEPER = Sleeper Berth (SB)
The Primary Duty Status, Sleeper, is used when a driver has decided to rest for a shift but keeps a truck running. The Sleeper time is counted towards OFF-related time but logged everywhere as an SB. Some HOS/exemption types have specific SB regulations. Check with your administrator for more information.
Secondary Duty Status Types
The secondary status types are also selectable by the driver, however, when they are logged, it is displayed as their affiliated Primary Duty Status type and noted with the name of the secondary duty status type.
PERSONAL USE (OFF)
The Secondary Duty Status Type, Personal Use (Off), is when the driver is off the clock but is driving the vehicle for personal reasons. The logged Personal Use time records distance traveled (in miles) and displays this on the log, otherwise, it is shown as ON. As mentioned above in Driving status, tracked drive time may be reclassified as Personal Use but the location, miles, and duration cannot change. Personal Use may contain non-drive time (i.e., enabled before the vehicle is in motion and disabled afterward).
YARD MOVE (ON)
The Secondary Duty Status Type, Yard Move (On), is counted against ON time (vehicle can be in motion). Yard Move is used to track ON time where the driver is on the clock, counting time towards their log, their operating vehicle is in motion, but drive time is not being applied. This status exists so that a driver may be able to drive a short distance but not be penalized for total drive time within their HOS/exemption type. Yard Move (On) records distance traveled (in miles) and displays this on the log, otherwise, it is shown as ON in the log file. As mentioned above in Driving status, tracked drive time may be reclassified as Yard Move (On), but the location, miles, and duration cannot change. YM may contain non-drive time (i.e., enabled before the vehicle is in motion and disabled afterward).
