T3's E-Logs web app and E-Logs mobile app comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) ELD rule. The rule requires many commercial trucks to be fitted with an ELD and mandates drivers to log their trips and driving hours electronically.

Users with Owner or Manager permissions can access E-Logs from T3. Drivers use the E-Logs mobile app to track their shifts and drive time, available for download in the App Store and the Google Play store. To use E-Logs, EquipmentShare Tracker hardware must be installed on a truck. Drivers use the mobile app to log driving time, view and edit logs, and provide the required documentation to law enforcement.

Quick ELD Resources

E-Logs Compliance Information

E-Logs is compliant with FMCSA standards and is a registered ELD solution. To see its FMCSA ELD registration, visit this link and search “Contractors Elogs” in the table.

Different HOS exemptions and exceptions will apply depending on where a vehicle travels and what it’s hauling or transporting. E-Logs drivers can apply any exemptions or exceptions to their time logs in the app.

Federal HOS Rule Types

E-Logs is the only ELD solution that supports all federal and state HOS rule exemptions, accommodating drivers and drive events in every state, including Texas, Alaska, Florida, and California. See the list of every supported HOS rule here in the Help Center.

For more on HOS Rule Types, please check out the FMCSA site.

E-Logs Integrations

E-Logs work with several T3 features to provide complete visibility into hours worked for every employee. E-Log entries work with Time Cards, Work Orders (WOs), Jobs, and Phases.

E-Logs and Time Cards

E-Logs is fully integrated with T3's Time Cards feature. Each time a driver sets their duty status to On, a Time Card is automatically created, clocking them out when they go into an off-duty status. The drivers’ Time Cards will be visible to users with Time Cards access.

In the Time Cards table, E-Logs drivers will have a blue truck icon in their Type column. If you click into a driver’s Time Card and select a date, you can click Review this day in E-Logs to see the driver’s log.

E-Logs, WOs, Jobs, and Phases

You or your drivers can add information to E-Logs entries showing where and how the time was spent. Adding a WO, Job and/or Job Phase to the log provides even more insight into how work is being done—you can more accurately estimate how long a job or a Work Order will take to complete and the resources needed to complete it, from employee hours to parts to total time.

Setting up your Company to use E-Logs

Upon first use, you'll need to enter your company's DOT number in your company settings of T3 and the individual vehicles to configure your company to use T3 E-Logs.

  • Access T3's Fleet web app and select Company from the left menu.

  • Select the Account tab.

  • Scroll to the bottom and find the DOT numbers section. Select the Add DOT Number button.

  • Enter the DOT number and a comment (optional). Select Create once you are done.

Adding the DOT number to a Vehicle

Once the DOT number is added for the company, you must add it to the vehicle.

  • From T3's Fleet web app, select Map.

  • Locate the vehicle using the search or filters.

  • Select the vehicle and then select History.

  • Select the Edit tab.

  • Enter the DOT Number for the vehicle.

  • Select the Save asset button at the bottom of the form.

Using T3's E-Logs Web App

The E-Logs web app can be used by a Manager or Owner from a desktop. The menu bar features tabs for viewing specific data and information: Fleet, Drivers, Logs, DVIRs, Documents, and Messages.

Settings

Access the T3 E-Logs web app. From Settings, you can choose and update your Company’s E-Logs settings. The options selected for the company will apply to all new drivers as their defaults. When updating settings, a warning message will prompt, reminding the user that the update impacts the entire company.

Note: Hover over the information icon to learn more.

  • Company Address

  • Hours of Service Rule

  • Vehicle / Trailer defect tags

    • The list of vehicle inspection items you'd like your drivers to review for their DVIRs. To add a new tag, simply type in the item and it will be added to the list.

  • DVIR Requirements

    • Select multiple requirements from the list and all drivers will be required to complete that action prior to submitting a DVIR from their E-Logs mobile app.

Fleet Page

View top-level summaries of recent data from the Fleet page. Users can see which statuses all of their drivers across the top of the page, including Total Drivers, and those drivers in Driving, Yard Move, Personal Use, On, Off, or Sleeper Berth status. The lower part includes a snapshot summary of DVIR defects, Unassigned Logs, and ELD submissions.

The Fleet page also displays a map with drivers' location and their current on- or off-duty status. The markers on the map are indicators of the driver's location throughout the day. The number within the circle indicates the drivers in that particular proximity. The larger the circle, the more drivers. The circle's color represents a status; Green is On, Blue is Drive, Yard Move, Personal Use, and Grey is Off. Hover over the markers to see a pop-up box of information, including the driver's status stats or details.

Drivers Page

The Drivers page shows a searchable table of all drivers that use E-Logs. The table shows some recent driver data:

  • Duty status: on, off, or driving

  • Driver’s name and cycle rule

  • Current Asset (and the pairing details)

  • Device Type the driver is using and version of the app

  • Cycle time

  • Shift: Length of time of the last logged shift

  • Drive: Drive time during the last logged shift

  • Break: Hours logged into a shift when the driver took a break

You can edit driver information from the Edit button. To add a driver, select Add Driver at the top right to add a new E-Logs driver’s information. A form will populate where you can add the driver’s information:

  • Driver’s first name, last name, and phone number

  • Driver username and email address

  • Driver’s license number and issuing state

  • Cycle rule

  • HOS exemption (if applicable)

  • Driver’s timezone

  • Driver’s reporting location

  • Indicate if the driver’s vehicle has a sleeper berth

Driver Logs Calendar

When accessing the Drivers page, select a driver name from the table, and the driver's logs for the calendar month will display. The current month will default. Each day will include a count of exemptions and issues for the individual driver; Break Violation, Cycle Violation, Drive Violation, Shift Violation, and Not Signed. The day will also include the distance traveled and duration in hours and minutes. The calendar can be viewed as a Month or Year view, providing an easy way to look back at the previous month's or year's violations. Adjust the date ranges across the top to customize the logs view. Click a day within the calendar to view the Daily Driver Log Summary page.

Driver Logs Table

From the Driver Logs calendar, a data table can be accessed. Select the Table button from the calendar view. It will display more details from the calendar view, including the driver's name tied to the log, distance traveled, time duration, exemptions, and issues. The data in each column can be sorted using the headers' up and down arrows. The Date and Issues values can be filtered by selecting the filter icon. Selecting the Date link will take you to the Daily Driver Log Summary page under the Drivers tab.

In Overview mode, the light grey slide bar along the bottom allows the user to scroll to the right or left of the timeline, looking at hours outside of the zoomed-in view. The link icon represented when the vehicle was paired.

Issues Table

The Issues table displays any issues for the day's logs. The Type, Time, and Description of the issue will display, if applicable.

Duty Status table

The same data displayed in the Duty Status chart will display in a table format, including Status, Time, Location, Source, Work Order, Work Code, Job, and Notes. Select the Revise button in each log row to make any changes.

Revising Logs

An administrator or supervisor may suggest a log revision a day after the logs occur. When revising a log from the Suggested Revisions table, update a log's Status, Time, Location, Work Order, Work Code, Job, and Notes by selecting the Suggest button. It will open a Suggested Revision window for editing. Users who are Owners or Managers can suggest revisions to E-Logs entries, which the driver can accept or reject.
