The Pump Cost Calculator calculates and compares electric versus diesel pump and power project costs to simplify the process of selecting the most efficient equipment for the job. The calculator enables customers to calculate project costs themselves to make informed decisions about equipment needs. Note: This tool provides estimates only; actual costs vary.

The calculator consists of a series of screens that prompt users to input information. Once the required information has been entered, the results screen will display the Diesel Total Cost and Electric Total Cost for comparison.

Step 1

  • Type in Diesel and Electric costs. Note: The results panel at the right side of the screen will populate as values are entered.

  • If needed, select Need help? to view fuel prices on the U.S. Energy Information Administration website.

  • Select the Next button to continue.

Step 2

  • Type in the Application Flow, Total Head, and Pump Efficiency to determine horsepower, or drag the sliders to the desired values. Note: For help calculating TDH (Total Dynamic Head), reach out to your dedicated Advanced Solutions Territory Account Manager.

  • Select the Next button to continue or select Back to return to the previous page.

Step 3

  • Type in the Total Hours of projected operating time or drag the slider to the desired value.

  • Select the Next button to continue or select Back to return to the previous page.

Step 4

  • Type in the Diesel, Electric, and VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) costs per cycle.
Note: The final total maintenance cost for diesel or electric units takes into account the total number of services based on operating time.

  • Select the Next button to continue or select Back to return to the previous page.

The final screen displays the estimated results.

  • The Diesel Total Cost and Electric Total Cost are displayed for comparison.
