Getting Started

  1. Download the Contractor's E-Logs app from the Google Play or App Store.

  2. Sign in to the app using the email address or ID provided by your company.

  3. Make sure your vehicle is connected (paired) to the app.
    - From the Dashboard, select Pair Vehicle.
    - Select a vehicle from the nearby/suggested list.
    - Select Set Vehicle. Your vehicle is connected and ready to log hours.

  4. Ensure the applicable Hours of Service (HOS) regulations for property-carrying and passenger-carrying driving is established. For more information, see Hours of Service Rule Types.
    - Select Cycle Rule from the Dashboard.
    - Select Cycle Rule or Exemption to set regulated rules prior to driving.

Check your app regularly for updates to ensure you're receiving the latest version on your smartphone device. For more information, see Updating the Contractors E-Logs App.

Driver's Daily Steps

  1. When you start your day, sign in to the app and complete your precheck Driver Vehicle Inspection Record (DVIR).
    - Select Form, Sign, DVIR from the Dashboard under Actions.
    - Select the DVIR tab.
    - Select New DVIR. Report any vehicle defects, if applicable. Select Save DVIR.

  2. Return to the Dashboard of the app to set your duty status and begin your shift.
    - Select the current status.
    - Select a Primary or Secondary duty status and click Change in the upper right-hand corner to save.

    Primary Duty Status Types - Once clicked, the app will begin recording time under the status and will be available for viewing anywhere the log graph is displayed throughout the app.
    - SLEEPER = Sleeper Berth
    - OFF DUTY
    - ON DUTY

    Secondary Duty Status Types - Once clicked, the app will begin recording time under the status but it will display as their affiliated Primary Duty Status and noted with the name of the secondary duty status type.
    - PERSONAL USE (OFF) = counted against OFF time (vehicle can be in motion)
    - YARD MOVE (ON) = counted against ON time (vehicle can be in motion)

  3. Once you have made your status selection, if there is work tied to the status, select a Work Order.

  4. When ready to take a break, select the current status and then OFF DUTY.
    - Select a duty status to resume working after your break.

  5. When the day has ended, select the current status and then OFF DUTY.

  6. Complete your DVIR for the end of your shift.
    - Select Form, Sign, DVIR from the Dashboard under Actions.
    - Select the DVIR tab.
    - Select New DVIR. Report any vehicle defects, if applicable. Select Save DVIR.

  7. To view your logged hours, select Logs from the Dashboard.
    - Revise the logged hours by selecting the Revise Time/Work button.
