When you turn off a vehicle, the T3 Dash Cam does not shut down immediately. Instead, it follows a staged power-down sequence designed to finish processing events and preserve data before going fully offline.
Power states
Stage 1: Awake state (5–30 minutes)
After ignition is turned off, the camera stays fully active for a configurable period. Most customers have this set to 5 minutes.
The camera continues to record and process events as normal.
This is why the Camera Health Report may show a camera heartbeat after the last GPS log — the camera is still running briefly after the engine stops.
Stage 2: Sleep mode (up to 72 hours)
After the awake period ends, the device enters a low-power standby state for up to 72 hours.
Recording and event processing stop.
Limited features may still be active, such as shake-to-wake and system monitoring.
Sleep Mode is the additional time a camera can be woken up when the asset is not running for footage retrieval and to view the live camera feed.
Stage 3: Power-off state (after ~72 hours)
After the sleep period, the device transitions to a near-complete shutdown.
Only minimal background functions remain active, such as memory retention and the internal clock.
Note: If you notice unexpected activity in the Camera Health Report shortly after a vehicle is turned off, this is normal — the camera is completing its awake-state period before entering sleep mode.
