The T3 Install App guides you through installing an MCX 101 tracker or Slap N Track device and creating the asset in T3. Use the app to scan the device, capture asset details, configure and verify the installation, and review the asset before creating it.
Before you begin
Open the T3 Install App in your mobile browser.
You can use devices already in your inventory. New kit packaging and QR stickers are not required.
Add the app to your home screen
For easier access, save the app to your phone’s home screen:
Android using Chrome: Open the app link, tap the three-dot menu, select Add to Home screen, and confirm.
iPhone using Safari: Open the app link, tap the Share icon, select Add to Home Screen, and confirm.
Once saved, you can launch the app from your home screen.
1. Scan the device
When you open the app, choose to scan the device or the equipment. Most installations begin by scanning the device.
Point the scanner at the device. If it has multiple QR codes, the app is designed to select the correct code automatically.
If you cannot scan the device, use the manual-entry option to enter its information and continue.
Troubleshoot device scan errors
If the scan returns an error, review the message and follow the guidance below.
Error | What to do |
The device is already assigned to an asset. | The device must be released from its existing asset before it can be installed again. |
The device is not assigned to a company. | The device must be provisioned to your account before you can continue. |
The device is not in the system. | The wrong code may have been scanned. Try scanning the device again. |
The device is not supported. | Confirm that you are using a supported device. Contact support if you need help. |
The error dialog lets you retry or contact support.
2. Capture and review asset information
Follow the prompts to capture the requested photos. For a vehicle, these include:
The VIN plate
The side of the vehicle
The back of the vehicle
The front of the vehicle
Submit the photos for scanning. The app detects available information, including make, model, year, license plate number, and license plate state.
Review the detected information before continuing. For vehicles, you can edit the following fields individually:
Make, model, and year
VIN
License plate number and state
Odometer reading
Additional details returned from the VIN scan, such as body type, fuel type, cylinders, engine, and variant, appear on the information screen but cannot be edited individually.
If photo scanning fails, you can retry, manually enter the information, or contact support.
Resolve a VIN mismatch
If the device reports a different VIN from the one you entered or detected from photos, the app displays the conflict. Select the correct VIN to use when creating the asset.
3. Install and configure the device
Follow the installation instructions in the app. If you are already familiar with the installation process, you can skip the step-by-step instructions.
During configuration, the app sends messages to the device and receives information back. Completion time varies based on conditions such as cellular signal strength.
If a configuration step fails or times out, retry that step individually. After two consecutive failures, the app displays a dialog with options to keep retrying or contact support.
4. Verify the installation
Review the information reported by the device. Depending on the device and asset, this may include:
Location
Battery voltage
Engine RPM
Odometer reading
You can also take optional photos to document the installation, including an odometer photo when applicable. These photos are attached to the asset record when you complete the process and can help with future troubleshooting.
5. Review and create the asset
On the final review screen, you can:
Select the primary photo that will appear in T3
Delete photos or add more
Enter an optional custom asset name
A custom name is not required to create the asset.
When the information is ready, select Create Asset. The app creates the asset in T3 using the information collected during installation, including asset details, photos, and applicable readings.
Get help during an installation
If the app cannot communicate with the servers, it displays a dialog with options to retry or contact support.
Select Contact support from an error or retry dialog to open an Intercom conversation. Relevant details, such as the device serial number or the failed step, are included automatically.
Manual entry is also available when device scanning or asset-photo scanning fails.
