Adding Category & Classes to Better Organize Assets

Instructions on how to set up asset Categories and Classes for organizing and classifying mixed fleet in the T3 system.

T3 allows managing various mixed assets such as vehicles, equipment, and attachments. To keep inventory organized, a Manager or Owner-level role can create and assign Categories and Classes to their assets. The T3 system has a hierarchy for its asset Categories and Classes.

Creating a Parent Category

The Parent category is optional.

  • From T3's Fleet web app, select Assets in the left menu.

  • Select the Categories tab across the top.

  • Select the Add Category button.

  • Complete the fields in the Add New Category form.

    • Category Name -- Type in the name for the parent category. If the name already exists, the system will notify you.

    • Singular Name -- Type in the singular name for the parent category.

    • Description -- Type in the description of the parent category.

    • Note: The Canonical Name will pre-fill automatically.

  • Select Create once you are done.

Creating a Category

  • From T3's Fleet web app, select Assets in the left menu.

  • Select the Categories tab across the top.

  • Select the Add Category button.

  • Complete the fields in the Add New Category form.

    • Category Name -- Type in the name for the category. If the name already exists, the system will notify you.

    • Singular Name -- Type in the singular name for the category.

    • Parent Category -- Optionally assign an existing parent category.

    • Description -- Type in the description of the category.

    • Note: The Canonical Name will pre-fill automatically.

  • Select Create once you are done.

The Parent Category & Category will display in the table once created.

Creating a Class

  • From T3's Fleet web app, select Assets in the left menu.

  • Select the Classes tab across the top.

  • Select the Add Class button.

  • Complete the required fields in the Add New Class form.

    • Name -- Type the name of the class.

    • Categories -- Select from the dropdown options of existing categories or Parent >> Category relationships.

    • Description -- Type in the description for the class type.

    • Models -- Select various models if you wish to auto-apply the new class to models.

  • Select Create once you are done.

Assigning Category and Class to an Existing Asset

You can add the new Category and Class to an existing asset or when adding a new asset in the system.

  • From the Assets page in T3 Fleet, search for the asset using the Name column header.

  • Select the blue asset name link.

OR

  • Select Details from the Asset Card on the T3 Map.

  • Select Edit at the top to open the Edit Asset form.

  • Select an existing Category and Class from the dropdown options.

  • Select Save asset at the bottom of the form once you are done.
