A reference guide to the various camera events triggered from a T3 Dash Cam.

Driver-Facing Camera Events

Driver Monitoring System (DMS) Type Events

Event

When is it triggered?

Alarm

Driver Distracted Warning

  • Generated when the driver is not sufficiently focused on the road (looking down or to the side)

  • Active when the vehicle speed is above 15 mph.

Audible alarm followed by “Driver Distraction.”

Driver Using Cell Phone

  • Generated when the driver is holding their cell phone and not using a hands-free device while the vehicle is in motion.

  • Active when the vehicle speed is above 5 mph.

Audible alarm followed by “Phone Detected.”

No Seat Belt

  • Generated when the driver is not wearing a seat belt.

  • Active when the vehicle speed is above 10 mph.

Audible alarm followed by “Please fasten seat belt.”

Driver Smoking

  • Generated when the driver smokes within the vehicle.

  • Active at all times, including when the vehicle is not moving.

Audible alarm followed by “Smoking detected.”

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Type Events

Event

When is it triggered?

Alarm

Following Distance Warning

  • Generated when the following distance is less than .8 seconds from the vehicle ahead (calculated based on the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead relative to the current speed). The optional display hardware shows the following distance (in seconds) from the vehicle ahead.

  • Active when the vehicle speed is above 20 mph.

Audible alarm followed by “Unsafe following distance.”

Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

  • FCW events require immediate action by the driver to avoid a potential collision.

  • Active when the vehicle speed is above 30 mph.

Series of short beeps followed by “Collision warning, collision warning!!”

Harsh Driving Camera Events (Non-AI Events)

Event

When is it triggered?

Alarm

Harsh Accelerating

  • Generated when the accelerometer detects substantial forward motion G-force value.

  • Active when the vehicle speed is above 20 mph.

Audible alarm followed by “Harsh Acceleration.”

Harsh Braking

  • Generated when the accelerometer detects a substantial stopping G-force value.

  • Active when the vehicle speed is above 20 mph.

Audible alarm followed by “Harsh Braking.”

Harsh Cornering

  • Generated when the accelerometer detects a substantial side G-force value.

  • Active when the vehicle speed is above 20 mph.

Audible alarm followed by “Harsh Cornering.”
